EASE is an innovative way of supporting vulnerable people and their carers. Its aim is to let users live as normal a life as possible while providing a non-intrusive safety net. Developed in conjunction with NHS South, it combines GPS location, indoor location and activity monitoring in an integrated package. It is part of the St Bernard Service, a comprehensive managed location service for vulnerable people.
The key element is the EASE Bracelet. This is a fully waterproof GPS location device which is worn on the wrist. It communicates regularly with the St Bernard Location Service which processes the data from the Bracelet, displays the location on the St Bernard Portal and, if there are any alerts, sends these to the appropriate people.
On its own the bracelet operates as a normal GPS locator but when used with the St Bernard Travel Companion it supports safe accompanied travelling.
